Long Review

We stayed 3 nights at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. This hotel is located at Terminal 3 and has been named the World’s Best Hotel by Skytrax. The Jewel, famous for its indoor rain vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, and indoor rainforest, is within a short walking distance. We chose this hotel because our flight arrived after 10 at night. Our flight leaving Singapore would also be in the morning so we felt that staying at the airport is more practical.

I did my check-in online beforehand so I got the room key quickly when I arrived at the reception desk. Going to our room, the corridor design is rather unusual because it is actually an outdoor corridor. Don’t worry, it is covered, although I expect there would be some wet spots on the floor during heavy rains.

Our room is a standard room with a king bed. The room size is fairly generous at 36 sqm. My eyes were immediately drawn by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall separating the bedroom and the bathroom as it is decorated by large white flowers. I also noticed that there is ample of space to place your personal belongings. There is a long bench, for instance, under the TV, suitable for placing smaller items and bags. The desk is large and is paired with a comfortable Herman Miller chair. Two complimentary bottles of water were provided in the mini bar section. From the large window, I could see a lush garden and a small part of the tarmac.

The bathroom has a good size and is coupled with a nice-looking bathtub. Remember the glass wall separating the bathroom and the bedroom? In this case, you can close the curtain if you need privacy while doing your stuff in the bathroom. More bathroom amenities and toiletries were available in the vanity drawer. More essential toiletries also can be requested from the reception.

Breakfast is served at Azur. The dark colour theme in the lobby continues to the restaurant. There is minimum amount of sunlight penetrating the space, but the lighting does fairly well to lit up the place. Despite that, I personally prefer a lighter colour scheme and a bit more sunlight for a breakfast space. The variety of the food was great though. I am sure you will be able to find something that you like here. Their offerings included western dishes, an egg station, pancakes, waffles, delicious French toasts, a laksa station, congee, a variety of bread, a cold bar, nasi lemak, Indian dishes, among others.

The hotel also has a gym and an outdoor swimming pool, although we did not give them a go this time. The gym seems to be well equipped, while the pool is not overly big, but it has a nice atmosphere since it is surrounded by many plants and trees. Instead of enjoying the hotel facilities, we spent the entire day and night at the Jewel. I did not expect the place to be that big. Besides the famous rain vortex, there are actually many things to do and explore there. The following day, we went to the Science Centre, which again has plenty of fun and educational things to do and learn for kids and adults.

The Jewel and its rain vortex are within a short stroll from the hotel

Overall, this hotel is certainly the best option if your flight arrives in Singapore late at night or if you need to be in the airport early in the morning. If you plan to visit the Jewel, again this hotel is conveniently located within a short walking distance from it. The drawback; well … it is pretty much far away from everything else. Having said so, the MRT is easily accessible from the hotel, if you would like to explore Singapore.
