Long review

This review will not be long because this is our second stay in Fairmont Singapore (you can check the review of the first stay here). This time we only stayed 2 nights. Fairmont hotel is located within the same complex as Swissôtel The Stamford (see a review of this hotel here). The 2 hotels share common facilities, including the swimming pools, gym, and tennis courts. You can check these common facilities and their photos in my previous reviews.

The lobby looks grand due to the high ceiling. A large chandelier, titled ‘Playing with the Wind’, is the central feature of the lobby. The intricate-looking chandelier is made from 800 hand-blown bohemian crystal glass balls.

In our first stay, the room was a deluxe room in the south tower. This time, we were allocated into a Fairmont room with 2 double beds in the north tower. This is the basic room in the hotel. At 45 sqm, the room is spacious. The design was drawn from Singapore’s peranakan heritage. The desk is rather large and is a good spot for working. It had all the amenities that we needed. The interior looks rather dated though in my opinion. My wife also said that the room smelled musty, although I did not notice it.

Welcome gifts, comprising some fresh fruit and a small bottle of wine, were provided on the desk.

The hotel has a balcony facing the city. Below is the view from the balcony, which includes the iconic Raffles Hotel.

The bathroom is clean and looks nice because of the marble wall. There is a water dispenser next to the tap. The shower is spacious with a bench on one side. There is no bathtub though.

We were given 2 options for breakfast: Asian Market Café (level 2) and Prego (level 1). Asian Market Café has a simpler interior and is a halal-certified restaurant. Prego has a nice ambience and décor with a great range of food options. The vintage Prego car is a unique décor in the space. We tried both places and we prefer Prego by far.

In summary, Fairmont hotel is strategically located in the heart of Singapore. The hotel has great facilities and offers an excellent breakfast experience at the Prego Restaurant. This particular type of room is basic and feels dated. If you can get the deluxe room in the south tower, it should be more worthwhile.
