Long review

We came back to this hotel for the third time. Since I have reviewed the hotel in greater details previously (first review and second review), this review will be light and will focus on aspects that I have not touched on before.

The main difference this time is the room. We stayed in the Junior Suite which is spacious. The Suite has 1 Queen size bed with a combined living area, which includes a sofa bed, a dining table, and a lounge area. It has a large window, although there is nothing special about the view (looking over a Woolies, a McDonald’s and a KFC along with their carpark). I also noticed that an edge of a curtain was torn, probably because being pulled too often.

The bathroom is spacious and clean. It does not have a bathtub though. Other than that, it is simple and functional.

They also provided a welcome gift for me, comprising 2 bottles of water and a box of chocolate. They also provided welcome drinks, but the options were limited though. At the end, I grabbed a bottle of apple cider and a can of Sprite.

Breakfast somehow felt mediocre due to the limited options of dishes. The usual Australian breakfast, which includes hash browns, chicken sausages, bacons, scrambled egg, and baked beans (missing mushrooms and tomatoes). The pastry selection was rather sad. They served pancakes, which tasted terrible, and slices of bread. On another day, some small cupcakes made an appearance and their taste was reasonable. In another section, they served a range of cereals, which was pretty good. In another one, they served fresh and pickled fruit, and yogurt. The watermelons were bad though, probably should have gone to the bin. Lastly, they served drinks on two separate tables. One for water and three types of juice, and the other for tea and coffee. I noticed one morning that the small container to place used teabags and other waste was not emptied the next day. We felt that our breakfast experience was better when we stayed there previously.

Other facilities in the hotel include a tennis court, a swimming pool, and a gym. The tennis court is certainly a rarity and an added plus. I noticed that they finally bought a new net. The pool can be considered as large for the hotel standard in Australia, but since it was still winter when we stayed there so we did not give it a try. The gym is small, and the equipment was fairly limited.

In terms of services, the room was cleaned only upon request. The check-in staff was overcharged us as well, although the check-out staff realised the mistake. Overall, the services were not as good as our past experiences.
