I chose to stay in Tuckerbox Motor Inn during my family road trip because it had the highest review scores on several booking websites for accommodations in Gundagai. Check-in was quick and straightforward because they were ready for our arrival. I expected to simply grab the key to our room, but the check-in staff offered a sheet of paper showing some places to eat and the map of Gundagai. She recommended several places and even a dish to order. I appreciated the friendliness and warmth of the staff.

In a typical motel format, we could simply park our car directly in front of the room. I liked how the room number was also placed on the parking space, so it was clear that the space belonged to that room. There was also a neat seating space in front of the room, which was a good place to relax in the late afternoon.

Our room was a twin room with a double bed and a single bed. The room itself was very spacious and came with a kitchenette. Dinnerware, cutlery and dishwashing tools were all provided. The microwave was particularly handy during our stay. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the room. Looking out from the window, I could see a small garden behind the room. Overall, nothing to fault in the bedroom. We had a good night’s sleep throughout our stay.

The bathroom was again massive and clean. The bathroom amenities were also very good, certainly the same standard as a typical 4-star hotel. The shower itself was actually comfortable but was also unexpectedly noisy for those in the bedroom.

Wi-Fi was provided for free. The signal strength was rather weak though from the bedroom. I had to sit near the door to get a reliable signal for my laptop. The accommodation also had a swimming pool. One side is quite deep despite its relatively small size. It is a good place to cool down, especially since it was really hot when we were there. Other than the pool, the hotel also had a BBQ facility for guests. In front of the hotel, there were a petrol station and a Hungry Jack’s. A McDonald’s was also nearby.
